VirginiaHauntedHouses.com recently sat down with Allison of Haunted Hill Haunted Trail and Hayride, to discuss what's new at the attraction for the 2018 Halloween Season! Located in Partlow, this haunt is sure to get your heart pounding and your blood flowing!

What's new at Haunted Hill Haunted Trail and Hayride for 2018? Do you have any new rides, attractions, or special features that Haunt Seekers should know about?

We just keep growing! A much longer hay ride and all kinds of spooky new things on the trail. Our trail isn't just props and animatronics.....it's nearly a mile of walking trail with over 50 experienced actors around each turn! Dark mazes, walk through scenes, and lots of dark woods! We have been doing this over 30 years and we know what it takes to get a scare!

What are you most excited about for the 2018 Halloween Season?

Our fans! Year after year you keep returning and that lets us know we are doing our job!

What differentiates Haunted Hill Haunted Trail and Hayride from other local haunts in Virginia?

We have over 50 live actors on our trail. Our hayride is nearly a mile and then the walking trail is nearly a mile... all for one low price!

How long has Haunted Hill Haunted Trail and Hayride been in business? Can you tell us a bit more about Haunted Hill Haunted Trail and Hayride's history?

We started out over 30 years ago doing a haunt in our basement for our kids and their friends. A few years later we outgrew the basement and moved to the barn. At that point a lot of neighbors and friends were coming also. Within a couple more years we had people showing up we didn't know and outgrew the barn. The rest is history. We purchased 90 acres of land and it was perfect to open up to the public. Most of our actors are family and/or friends who have been doing this with us forever, so they are very experienced in what it takes to get a good scare.

What's your favorite experience since opening Haunted Hill Haunted Trail and Hayride?

Oh, there are so many. I would have to say one of the most memorable was when one of our actors got scared because as he was chasing a lady with a chainsaw her leg "fell off". He was unaware she had a wooden leg! She was such a trooper...she laughed at the fact that she had scared him, strapped her leg back on and continued down the trail.

How long is a typical haunt experience at Haunted Hill Haunted Trail and Hayride from start to finish?

We try to move our lines quickly, and in the beginning of the month you can usually get in and out in about an hour. The closer we get to Halloween, the longer the lines get and it may take several hours to get in and out.

On a scale from 1 to 10, how scary would you say Haunted Hill Haunted Trail and Hayride is? Why?

It's hard to rate a trail due to the fact that different things scare different people. I would say based on reviews most would rate us a 9. Our tail is dark with lots of actors. Most people love tunnels and mazes and we have lots.

Does Haunted Hill Haunted Trail and Hayride's property have any real haunted history? Do you have a spooky encounter you'd like to share?

Why yes we do. This property was once part of a Plantation that has always been reported to be haunted. There have been many paranormal or unexplainable events that have taken place here.

What inspired you to open up a haunted attraction? What's your favorite part of the business?

Our favorite part of the business is offering people a decent scare without an outrageous price tag compared to most haunts of this size.

How has new technology (i.e. animatronics, special props, etc) helped you to enhance Haunted Hill Haunted Trail and Hayride?

We don't use a lot of animatronics... we use real, live people. Apart from that, our lighting is one of our main keys to success.

Can Haunted Hill Haunted Trail and Hayride accommodate large groups? How many people can experience Haunted Hill Haunted Trail and Hayride together as a group?

We can accommodate approx. 25 people per hayride as a group. On the trail we try to keep our group sizes to a maximum of 10 people for the best effect but we have no problem letting people go through in larger groups if they understand that some may not see or experience everything.
