George Washington's Mount Vernon - Mount Vernon VA Haunted Place

Located in Fairfax County, George Washington's Mount Vernon is where the first U.S. President resided. The estate was Washington's home for seven years and was also his final resting place and 20 of his family members as well. It's no surprise that there are several ghost stories attached to the estate when this many people calling the estate their final resting place.

The haunting stories surrounding the estate began in the late 1800s and there are multiple locations throughout that are believed to have paranormal activity. Of course, George's room where he died is one of the most visited rooms at the estate. According to the estate's website, the once president lingers where he died, appearing during the night.

Then there's the staircase - where a woman is rumored to make herself known. This woman is dressed in 18th century clothing and has been spotted carrying a large punch bowl filled with a flower arrangement. Once the woman's apparition reaches the bottom of the stairs, she disappears. An older gentleman is also known to haunt the Little Parlor. He sports a large mustache and is dressed in late 19th or early 20th-century clothing, with his sleeves rolled up and secured with garters.

Also listed on the estate's website is the story of a visitor who was staying in The Yellow Room. The witness reported feeling someone pushing him and could feel hands on his shoulders. When he turned to look, no one was there! Email Haunt
