Abram’s Delight and the land on which it sits were the home of five generations of the Hollingsworth family. The current building was first constructed Isaac Hollingsworth in 1753, and additions were made in 1800 to accommodate his heir’s large family. The house and 35 acres of surrounding property were eventually purchased by the city of Winchester in 1943, thus preserving the oldest house in the area even after the last Hollingsworth owner had died. It is now a historic house museum open for public visitation, and rumored to be haunted.

Mary Hollingsworth is believed to be one of the home’s ghosts, and a male apparition has been spied as well. Witnesses say that Mary knocked over vases and furniture, and made the sound of breaking glass resonate throughout the house without actually breaking anything. She has also turned on appliances, adjusted the volume of the stereo, and switched on the water. The male apparition has been seen on the front steps of the house in Quaker clothing.
